TULSA-Freshman
Aaron Douthit scored the game's only goal and junior
goalkeeper
Andrew Techanchuk turned in his second straight shutout
as Oral Roberts defeated Houston Baptist 1-0 in the Golden Eagles
Invitational, Sunday at ORU Soccer Complex.
Playing much of the game in a driving rainstorm, ORU (2-1-1) and
HBU (2-3-0) battled through 78 scoreless minutes before Douthit's
goal.
Juan Chang gathered the ball on the right side and sent a
cross to Douthit, who blasted the ball in from 20 yards out at
78:28 to give ORU a 1-0 lead.
Techanchuk was outstanding in goal once again. Two days after
making 10 saves in a 0-0 tie against UNLV, the junior keeper
collected six saves against the Huskies. The effort lowered his
season goals-against average to a miniscule 0.47.
ORU out-shot Houston Baptist, 14-11. Four different players had
four shots apiece.
The Golden Eagles next face Drake in the UMKC Invitational, Friday,
Sept. 18 in Kansas City, Mo.
