TULSA - The Oral Roberts University volleyball team dropped a
five-set match to UALR on Friday night at the ORU Classic. The
Golden Eagles fell to 3-2 overall, while the Lady Trojans improved
to 3-1 on the season.
The Golden Eagles won the first two sets by scores of 25-18 and
25-21, but dropped the remaining sets by scores of 25-22, 25-19 and
15-7.
Senior
Juliane Vieira (Ribeirao
Preto, Brazil) posted 46 assists in the loss while recording eight
digs defensively.
Four Golden Eagles posted double-digit kills, led by freshman
Tatum Fredeen
(Bentonville, Ark.), who tallied a career-high 15. Serena
Cate (Yorba Linda, Calif.) smashed 12 kills, while freshman
Joana Gruber (Santa
Rosa, Brazil) and junior
Jocelyn Swier (Ripon,
Calif.) each added 10. Gruber led ORU with a .474 hitting
percentage.
Olivia Ophus (Jenks,
Okla.) led the Golden Eagles with nine digs, while sister Lauren
Ophus (Jenks, Okla.) added eight.
Lauren Ophus also paced ORU
with three service aces.
Brittany Rush (Riverside, Calif.) and Swier posted two assisted
blocks each to lead the squad.
UALR's Giuliana DeFrancesco tallied 45 assists, while Anita Bucur
and Becky Mann each posted 21 kills to lead the Lady Trojans.
The Golden Eagles return to action at 7 p.m. on Saturday to face
Northwestern State.
