FT. WAYNE,
Ind.-IPFW's Maya Schlindwein had 21 kills to help the Mastodons
rally for a 3-2 (14-25, 25-23, 18-25, 25-22, 15-10) victory over
Oral Roberts in Summit League volleyball action, Friday at Gates
Sports Center.
The Golden
Eagles (7-8 overall, 5-3 Summit) started strong, winning the first
set 25-14. But IPFW (11-8, 6-2) bounced back to win the second set
25-23.
The see-saw
affair continued as ORU took set number three (25-18) before IPFW
captured the fourth set by a 25-22 margin. The Mastodons took the
pivotal fifth set, 15-10.
Serena
Cate led the Golden Eagles offensively with 14 kills, adding 11
digs, six assists and two blocks. Elizabeth
McVicker had 13 kills and nine total blocks while Jessica
Pancratz added 11 kills.
Freshman Laura
Taylor guided ORU's offensive effort with 44 assists, adding 11
digs and seven kills.
The Golden
Eagles hit .242 for the match, compared to .163 for the Mastodons.
But ORU was done in by its service game, with 11 service errors and
seven receiving errors.
ORU next
faces Summit League foe Oakland, 6 p.m., Saturday in Rochester,
Mich.
