EDINBURGH,
Texas - The Oral Roberts volleyball team fell to Idaho State by a
score of 3-2 in the second game on Friday at the UTPA Fall
Invitational in Edinburgh, Texas.
ORU (1-1)
dropped the first set by a score of 25-18 before charging back to
take the next two games by scores of 25-21 and 29-27. Idaho State
(2-0) then breezed through the fourth and fifth games by scores of
25-14 and 15-7 to capture the match.
Junior Serena
Cate (Yorba Linda, Calif.) notched the first double-double of
the season with 13 kills and 10 digs to lead the Golden Eagles
offensively.
Elizabeth
McVicker (Owasso, Okla.) recorded another solid performance
with 10 kills against only one error, while fellow sophomore Tatum
Fredeen (Bentonville, Ark.) added eight kills.
Freshman Laura
Taylor (Broken Arrow, Okla.) tallied 43 assists, while also
smashing six kills against no errors and totaling three blocks.
Senior Cassidy
Holmes (Tulsa, Okla.) recorded 22 digs for a total of 52
through the first two matches, while tying for the team-lead with
Olivia
Ophus (Tulsa, Okia.) with three service aces.
The Golden
Eagles hit just .175 with 53 kills and 25 errors in 160 attempts,
while Idaho State hit .282 with 67 kills.
ORU wraps up
the weekend against UTPA at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
