Cate and Tatum
Fredeen each tallied 13 kills to lead the Oral Roberts
volleyball team to a 3-0 defeat (25-23, 25-19, 25-20) of IUPUI in
The Summit League opener on Friday night at the Aerobics
Center.
The Golden Eagles (3-5, 1-0) charged back from a 15-18 deficit in
the first set and scored the final eight points in the third set to
take the match.
Cate, a junior from Yorba Linda, Calif., committed only three
errors in 28 attempts, while Fredeen also recorded only three
errors in 19 attempts for a .526 hitting percentage.
Freshman Laura
Taylor (Broken Arrow, Okla.) smashed eight kills against no
errors in 14 attempts, while also leading the Golden Eagles with 31
assists. Taylor has posted 31 kills on the season against only one
error for a team-leading .492 hitting percentage.
Senior Cassidy
Holmes (Tulsa, Okla.) led the defensive effort with 12 digs,
while Olivia
Ophus (Tulsa, Okla.) and Cate each added seven.
ORU hit a season-high .366 with 50 kills to only 13 errors, while
the Jaguars (1-9, 0-1) recorded 29 kills for a .217 hitting
percentage.
The Golden Eagles return to action against Western Illinois at 7:00
p.m. on Saturday at the Aerobics Center.
