The Oral Roberts women's basketball team looks to bounce back from
their first conference loss of the year as they take on the UMKC
Kangaroos Monday evening in Kansas City.
Scouting the Kangaroos
The UMKC 'Roos enter tonight's contest flying high thanks to recent
wins over Centenary (96-54) and Southern Utah (71-68). UMKC has
also won five of their last seven games dating back to January 17th
and currently sit in seventh place in the Summit League standings.
Dayon Hall-Jones and Eileise O'Connor each score nine points a game
to lead the Kangaroos, while Brianna Eldridge pulls in a team-best
6.4 rebounds per outing.
As a team, UMKC averages 64.7 points per game and shoots 38% from
the field. Tough in the paint, the Kangaroos rank third in the
conference in rebounding offense and defense, while holding the
first spot in the Summit League with a +3.8 rebounding margin.
Series History
ORU holds a 25-17 lead over UMKC in a series that dates back to
1983. The Golden Eagles have won 12 straight in the series and 17
of the last 18 overall. The last loss to the Kangaroos was a 62-73
setback on 1/23/06 in the Mabee Center. The last time they met, ORU
scored a 90-79 home win on 1/15/11 in a game that featured Georgia
Jones unleashing for 20 points on 7-11 shooting. The last time ORU
travelled to Kansas City, the Golden Eagles posted a 93-79 win on
2/27/10.
