Tulsa-Three players logged double-doubles to lead a balanced and
high scoring Oral Roberts women's basketball team to a 101-75
victory over the Western Illinois Leathernecks Saturday afternoon
at the Mabee Center.
Dominique
Allen snagged her first career double-double by pouring in 15
points and gobbling up 10 rebounds, while blocking two shots,
grabbing three steals and shooting a nifty 7-8 on the game.
Not to be outdone, Jordan
Pyle earned her 18th career double-double with 13 points and 12
boards, with Savanna
Buck rounding out the double-double trio with 13 points and 10
rebounds.
ORU trailed only one time in the contest, falling behind 8-10 on an
Ann Borgertpoepping trey with 16:42 showing in the opening
half.
The Golden Eagles quickly responded, rattling off an 11-2 run over
the next two minutes, before eventually climbing ahead by as many
as 16 heading into the break.
It was all ORU all the time in the final 20 minutes, as the Golden
Eagles held a double-digit lead for the duration and extended the
cushion to as many as 28 on three separate occasions.
Kevi
Luper once again led all scorers with 22 points, including a
6-6 effort from the charity stripe.
Georgia
Jones added 15 points and five assists, while shooting 5-10
from beyond the arc.
In all, six players scored in double-figures in the ORU
victory.
Michele Salvatori paced Western Illinois with 16 points on 5-11
shooting.
With the win, ORU (19-9, 15-2) clinches the Summit League regular
season title outright, moving two games ahead of IPFW with only one
to go. The 2010-11 Summit title marks the second-straight for the
Golden Eagles.
The victory also marks a program-best fifth time that ORU has
eclipsed the century mark in a season. The previous best was four,
set by the Golden Eagles just last year.
ORU will wrap-up the regular season this Monday, as they host IUPUI
in the Mabee Center. Tip-off is slated for 7:05 p.m.
