TULSA, Okla.-The Golden Eagles continue
to struggle on the road, as they fall to Missouri State,
2-0.
The Golden Eagles (2-5-1) gave up both
goals in the first half, and they couldn't overcome the deficit,
suffering their fourth consecutive road loss. Missouri State
(4-3-1) put together their third straight shutout, allowing just
five goals on the season.
Missouri State got on the board in the
36th minute with sophomore Shelby Stewart's second goal of the
season. Then in the 44th minute, Logan Bisbee ended the nights
scoring with a laser from 20 yards out. The goal was the senior
defenders first of the season.
The Golden Eagles offense was only able
to produce seven shots, a stark contrast to Friday night when they
dominated time of possession against Rogers State and had 24 shots.
Missouri State had 21 shots on the night, 13 of them coming in a
scoreless second half.
Senior keeper
Amanda Wheeler got the
start, but would not finish the game, as freshman
Helen Erb played
the second half of the match. Wheeler one save and gave up two
goals, while Erb contributed five saves. The Golden Eagles are
still looking for a consistent option at keeper.
Senior keeper Jessica Teahan
contributed four saves before being replaced by junior Chelsea Voet
in the 65th minute.
The Golden Eagles will return home to
open their conference schedule against Southern Utah on Friday,
September 16 at 7 p.m.
