MACOMB, Ill. - Freshman Jordan Gilbert scored a season-high 24 points to help the Oral Roberts University women's basketball team hold on to a 68-61 win over Western Illinois Thursday night in Summit League action.

Western Illinois built a nine-point lead midway through the first half, however, the Golden Eagles used a 15-3 run over the final 6:33 to take a 35-31 lead into the locker room. The second half saw a near perfect combination of offense and defense as ORU was able to fight off the Leathernecks and win their second straight road game.

A balanced scoring attack from ORU saw Gilbert pour in 24 points on 9-of-11 shooting and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. Atoe' Jackson and Dorottya Balla each added 11 points, as Vicky McIntyre posted her 21st double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Ashley Luke led the Leathernecks with 22 points and 14 rebounds.

The Turning Point
ORU finished the first half on a 15-3 run as they took a 35-31 lead into halftime. Western Illinois pulled as close as three points in the second half, but the Golden Eagles went on an 8-2 run to end the game with Jordan Gilbert finishing 4-for-4 at the free throw line in the final 1:20 of the game.

Oral Roberts: Jordan Gilbert scored a season-high 24 points with two rebounds and three steals. Vicky McIntyre scored 10 points and 13 rebounds for her 21st double-double.
Western Illinois: Ashley Luke scored a team-high 22 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to pace the Leathernecks.
