TULSA, Okla. - The
seniors for the Oral Roberts University women's basketball team
stepped up to help lead the Golden Eagles past Denver, 65-44,
Saturday afternoon in Summit League action.
Vicky
McIntyre broke the ORU and Summit League single-season rebound
record as she pulled down 17 boards and added 26 points. McIntyre -
currently with 377 rebounds - broke the marks in the first half.
The ORU record was held by Amy Williams who grabbed 365boards
during the 1989-90 season and the conference mark of 362 rebounds
was set by Oberon Pitterson of Western Illinois in the 1993-94
season.
McIntyre and fellow senior Atoe' Jackson paced ORU offensively
as Jackson added a career-high 22 points and five rebounds in the
win.
The Golden Eagles picked up their spark on the defensive end
finishing with nine steals - including three each from freshmen Jordan
Doyle and Jordan
Gilbert.
In addtion to the low point total for the Pioneers, ORU also
held Denver to just 25 percent shooting in each half, the second
lowest mark of the season.
The Turning Point
The Golden Eagles used a 15-4 run midway through the
second half to pull away from the Pioneers. The ORU defense was
locked in Saturday holding Denver to just two field goals over the
final 13:46 of the game.
The Leaders
Oral Roberts: Vicky
McIntyre finished with 26 points and 17 rebounds for her 18th
double-double of the season. Atoe' Jackson scored a career-high 22
points and added five rebounds.
Denver: Paige Bradley was the
only Pioneer to score in double figures finishing with 15
points.
Inside the Box Score
- ORU held Denver to just 44 points in the game as it
was the lowest point total for an opponent since the Golden Eagles
held Sam Houston State to 40 points on February 14, 2013.
- ORU outscored Denver 30-8 in the paint.
- The Golden Eagles also finished with 21 points off turnovers as
Denver finished with just 14.
- The 25 percent shooting was the second lowest of the season as
ORU held Missouri State and Grand Canyon to 24 percent earlier this
year.
- Atoe' Jackson played 40 minutes for ORU and is the only Golden
Eagle to play all 40 minutes in a game this season.

holder at ORU and in the Summit League with 377 rebounds. She
passed Amy Williams' 365 rebounds during the 1989-90 season and
Oberon Pitterson of Western Illinois' 362 rebounds during the
1993-94 season.
- McIntyre added three more blocks to give her 114 on the season.
She is second on the ORU list behind Kisa Bradley's 119 (95-96) and
fifth in the Summit League behind Brooke McAfee's 137 from IUPUI
during the 2005-06 season.
- McIntyre is also one double-double shy of tying Vivian Herron
and Elisha Turek's ORU record for double-doubles in a single-season
with 19. Her 18 double-doubles are also one shy of the most this
season in NCAA Division I women's basketball.
- McIntyre has scored at least 25 points in her last three games
and reached double figures in eight of her last nine games.
