FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Oral Roberts volleyball team dropped a road clash at Purdue Fort Wayne in straight sets (23-25, 18-25, 19-25) Friday night from the Gates Sports Center.
The Golden Eagles maintained a lead in the opening set on the Mastodons, but a late, 4-1 run from the home side evened the score, 17-17. Purdue Fort Wayne closed out a battle for the opening set that featured nine tie scores and six lead changes.
ORU turned an early two-point deficit into a three-point advantage in set two behind a 7-2 stretch leading 10-7. The Mastodons continued to hit at a high clip going above .300 for the second-consecutive stanza erasing the margin for a 2-0 lead and closed out the match with a .412 hitting percentage in the final set.
Inside the Box Score
- Five different players recorded at least eight digs on the night led by nine from Sylvia Lawson and Inka Inkret. Lawson added 28 set assists.
- CeCe Madison led the ORU offense as the only player to reach double-digit kills putting away 12.
- Laura Shoopman and Bri Greenlee each tallied nine kills for the Golden Eagles with Greenlee pacing the squad with a .412 hitting percentage. Shoopman buried six kills on nine attempts in set three.
- Inkret, Taylan Nero, Sarah Thiessen and Madison each registered a service ace.
