FARGO, N.D. – The Oral Roberts volleyball team suffered a four-set loss in the regular season finale at North Dakota State (21-25, 20-25, 26-24, 19-25) Sunday afternoon at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse. The Golden Eagles were able to reach the postseason and will be the No. 6 seed at The Summit League Championship presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare owning a tiebreak with North Dakota.
ORU struggled to slow down the Bison offense in the early going falling behind 21-8, but did not give up fighting back with a 12-3 run to close the gap before dropping the opening set, 25-21.
A kill from Bri Greenlee gave the Golden Eagles an 8-6 edge in the second stanza before NDSU pushed back scoring the next five points and never gave up the lead despite a late rally from ORU getting within one, 20-19.
An Inka Inkret service ace helped ORU to a quick, 6-2 advantage, but again the Bison took the lead on a 6-0 run. The Golden Eagles kept the margin close and used three-straight points on a kill from Katarina Mikulic and back-to-back service aces by Greenlee to get set point, 24-22. Sakira LaCour put away a swing and combined with Mikulic for a block to take the frame, 26-24.
NDSU jumped to a 5-1 lead in the fourth frame and kept ORU from a comeback bid to win, 25-19, but thanks to results in other matches around The Summit League, the Golden Eagles secured a postseason berth.
