LINCOLN, Neb. – The ORU women's basketball team fell 77-67 at Nebraska Saturday afternoon in Lincoln, Nebraska.

After trailing 10-2 early in the first quarter, the Golden Eagles went on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to two. ORU made it a one point game with 2:45 to go in the first. Sarah Garvie gave the Golden Eagles a lead in the first with a fast break layup. The Golden Eagles maintained the lead and led 17-16 at the end of the first quarter. ORU shot 54 percent in the first and made three shot from long range.

Nebraska regained a lead at the media timeout, but the Golden Eagles trailed 27-25. The Cornhuskers went up by as much as 13 in the second. ORU cut it to 10, 40-30, before the break. Keni Jo Lippe led ORU with 14 points, but the team was out-scored 25-13 in the second. The Cornhuskers shot 41 percent in the second and 59 percent in the first half. ORU shot 43 percent in the first 20 minutes of play.

ORU got as close as seven points in the third when Katie Kirkhart capitalized on the and-one opportunity in the opening possession. Nebraska had as much as a 13 point lead in the third after ORU cut it back to seven with two minutes to play. Both teams shot 46 percent in the third as the Cornhuskers had a 63-50 lead with 10 minutes to play.

The Huskers took a 15 point lead in the fourth with 6:40 to play. Lippe hit a three-point bucket with six minutes left to the deficit to 12. Garvie hit a three to make it a nine point game with 5 minutes to play. Nebraska went back up by 14 before the Golden Eagles closed the gap to 10 to end the game. ORU out-scored the Cornhuskers, 17-14, in the final quarter.

THE LEADERS

Oral Roberts: Keni Jo Lippe scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Montserrat Brotons also had seven boards.

Nebraska: Sam Haiby scored 20 points and Kate Cain grabbed eight rebounds.                                                                                                                                             

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

- ORU shot 43.9 percent overall in tonight's game.

- ORU got out-rebounded by Nebraska, 39-34.

- The Golden Eagles had a 39.1 percent three-point average.

- ORU turned the ball over 19 times, but forced the Cornhuskers to turn the ball over 13 times.
