The Basics

TULSA, Okla. – Six different players scored in double figures as the Oral Roberts men's basketball team picked up a 95-55 victory over Haskell Sunday afternoon celebrating Native American Heritage Day at the Mabee Center.
All five starters finished with at least 11 points as the Golden Eagles overcame a slow start to secure the home win. The Indians hit a 3-pointer of their first possession and jumped out to a 5-1 advantage before the ORU settled in and scored the next five points.
The Golden Eagles led by as many as 20 points in the opening half thanks to a 12-2 spurt and took a 50-32 advantage into the intermission. Max Abmas posted the first five points of the second half pushing the edge to 23 points. ORU made it a 30-point cushion at the mid-point of the frame, 76-46, capped off on a highlight-reel steal and dunk by Aidan Saunders.
ORU pushed to the finish tallying a 14-2 run over the game's final five minutes closing out the victory, 95-55.
Turning Point
Four different players scored during a 9-0 run for ORU that erased a one-point deficit during a span of 1:22 to lead 21-13. The home side took control of the action stretching its advantage over Haskell to 15 points behind another 9-2 push and never allowed the margin to dip below 10 points.
Individual Leaders
Oral Roberts: Elijah Lufile posted his second double-double of the season behind a season-best 15 points and 11 rebounds. The redshirt sophomore dominated the paint grabbing eight offensive rebounds and made 5-of-7 shot attempts.
Haskell: Tristan Keah-Tigh led three players in double figures for the Indians totaling 13 points on 5-of-13 shooting.
Inside the Box Score
- ORU entered the matinee ranked third in the NCAA averaging 44.1 rebounds per game and ended Sunday's game matching a season best with 54 total boards, 24 of which came on the offensive end.
- The Golden Eagles were able to control the inside game out-scoring the Indians by a 48-14 margin in points in the paint.
- Abmas led ORU behind a 17-point effort, while Deondre Burns reached double figures for the fourth-consecutive game as the senior finished with 16 points and led the team registering five assists.
- Aidan Saunders came off the bench and delivered 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting and added a team-best two blocks.
- Sam Kearns chipped in 13 points and Kevin Obanor gave ORU 11 as each player recorded eight rebounds.
News and Notes
- Sunday marked the first time since Nov. 19, 2018, where the Golden Eagles had at least six players register double-figure points.
- ORU remains perfect at home this year and used a season-high 50 percent shooting from the floor (35-of-70) to improve to 4-0 at the Mabee Center.
- Haskell, a member of the NAIA, played this afternoon's game as an exhibition and its win/loss record is not affected by the outcome.
