VERMILLION, S.D. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball team fell, 79-56, at No. 24 South Dakota Sunday afternoon in Vermillion, South Dakota.
The No.24 ranked South Dakota Coyotes jumped out with an early 11-4 lead after going 4-for-4 overall from the field and 3-for-3 from long range. The Golden Eagles clawed back and got as close as two points with three minutes to go in the first. ORU's defense held South Dakota to two for their last nine from the field to end the quarter. The Coyotes ended the first with a 21-14 lead.
The Yotes came out in the second on a 7-0 run before Jentry Holt broke the run to pull back to within 10. ORU got it to within eight points with five minutes to play when Keni Jo Lippe hit her first three-point bucket of the game. Lippe hit her second to pull back within eight a minute later. Katie Kirkhart hit a 14-footer and cut the deficit to five with two minutes to play in the second. Both teams shot 44 percent or better in the first half as South Dakota led 37-30 at the break.
South Dakota went up by as much as 14 to start the quarter. Regan Schumacher had a big three-point play with a connection on the and-one opportunity to pull it back to within eight with four minutes to go in the third. The Coyotes then went on a 7-0 run to go up by 15 with one minute to play. South Dakota went on to lead 60-46 at the end of the quarter.
A 10-0 run started the fourth for the No. 24th ranked team in the country as South Dakota went up 70-46. The Golden Eagles then out-scored South Dakota 10-9 down the stretch. The Coyotes finished the day with a 79-56 advantage.

Oral Roberts: Lippe scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
South Dakota: Monica Arens and Ciara Duffy each scored 18 points. Arens and Hannah Sjerven each had seven rebounds.
