Summers Scores 31 in Win over North Dakota

TULSA, Okla. – Gem Summers records career high 31 in the Oral Roberts women's basketball team's 84-71 win over North Dakota Saturday evening at the Mabee Center.
 
The Golden Eagles started down by three until Gem Summers came off the bench and solely took the team on a 7-0 run to take a four point lead. North Dakota overcame the deficit and had a two point advantage to end the first. The Fighting Hawks went 50 percent from the field to lead 21-19.
 
After trailing by 11 early in the second, Summers hit her second three-point bucket of the game followed by a jumper to pull within six. The run was extended to 10-0 on an and-one by Tierney Coleman to pull to within one point with 3:30 to play in the second. Faith Paramore tied the game as the run continued to 11-0. Summers continued shooting from downtown to give ORU its first lead in seven minutes. North Dakota hit the final bucket of the first half and the teams were tied 34-34 going into the break.
 
Summers eclipsed a new career high in the third quarter with an eight foot jumper. After trailing by four, Summers tied the game again with a steal and a fast break layup. The Golden Eagles had back-to-back three-point buckets by Summers and Ariel Walker to take a second half lead by six.
 
ORU went up by as much as 14 in the fourth and maintained a lead to win 90-82. The Golden Eagles recorded 30 fourth quarter points, the most in a quarter this season. Summers' 31 points was the first 30-plus point game for a Golden Eagle since last season. She also captured a career high four steals. She went 10-for-17 overall and 5-for-8 from long range.

Oral RobertsGem Summers recorded a career high 31 points. Keni Jo Lippe and Regan Schumacher each had seven rebounds.
North Dakota: Maggie Manson scored 17 points and Olivia Lane grabbed 10 rebounds.

Keni Jo Lippe scored a season high 22 points going 13-for-16 from the charity stripe along with seven rebounds and three assists.

- ORU had 39 bench points in tonight's game. The team recorded 18 points in the paint.
- Golden Eagles capitalized with 19 points off of turnovers.
