Golden Eagles Host Haskell During Native American Heritage Month

TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts men's basketball team welcomes Haskell to the Mabee Center Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. to celebrate Native American Heritage Month.

Fans that show their tribal ID in the North Lobby before the game will receive a free general admission ticket to the contest. The action also will be streamed live on the ORU Sports Network and ORUSN Roku app free of charge.

• ORU broke a 30-year-old record Saturday connecting for 21 made 3-pointers in a 71-point win over Southwestern Christian as 10 players converted from distance with Francis Lacis, Max Abmas, Carlos Jurgens and Sir Issac Herron all making three triples. Six different players reached double digits for the offense led by 16 points from Max Abmas against the Eagles.

• Abmas was named a Preseason All-American by three publications and is on the watch list for the NABC Player of the Year and Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year. He currently leads ORU scoring 18.0 points per game.

• The Golden Eagles scored the most points in a single game (121) since tallying 124 at home against Jarvis Christian Nov. 15, 1997.

• ORU currently ranks second in the NCAA averaging 16.5 made 3-pointers per game and is ninth holding a 2.2 to 1 assist to turnover ratio. The Golden Eagles have turned the ball over just 7.5 times per game, which is the fifth fewest in the nation this season.

• Despite winning the tournament title last year, ORU was picked to finish third in The Summit League Preseason Poll, behind South Dakota State and North Dakota State.

• The Golden Eagles return 10 letterwinners, including three starters, and add five new faces for 2021-22 with two transfers and three freshmen.

Scouting the Opponent
• ORU has won both meetings in the all-time series with Haskell and the most recent was a 95-55 victory in December 2019.

• The Indians closed a five-game home stretch with an 83-41 loss to Missouri Baptist, but picked up home wins over Baptist Bible College (83-81) and Bacone (80-71).

• Xavier Littlehead paces three players in double-digit scoring as the senior averages 14.7 points per game, while Justin Curley and Aspen LaPointe post 11.0 and 10.3 points per game, respectively. Littlehead knocked down 7-of-11 from 3-point range in the win over Baptist Bible.
