#ORUWBB Snags Texas-Sized Wednesday Win

ABILENE, Texas – In a back and forth ballgame that came down to the final seconds, the Oral Roberts women's basketball team secured their first road win of the season, knocking off Abilene Christian 69-66. The win marked the first in ORU history over Abilene Christian and the first road win of the season for the Golden Eagles.
 
ORU got out to a 6-5 lead in the opening frame after lay-ups from Keni Jo Lippe and Tirzah Moore. The Golden Eagles went ice cold from the floor, ending the quarter connecting on just one of their final 13 shot attempts. As a team, the Golden Eagles shot just 13.3% from the floor and trailed 13-6 after ten minutes.
 
The Golden Eagles opened the second quarter on a 8-0 run to take the lead after a pair of three pointers from Ariel Walker and Lippe. The Wildcats and Golden Eagles traded baskets throughout the remainder of the quarterWith 4 seconds left in the second quarter, Lippe connected on another triple to tie the game at 25. At the buzzer, ACU connected on a three-ball to take a three point lead into the break.
 
Quarter three was once again a highly contested battle to the finish. Delaney Nix connected a deep triple to bring ORU within two before Faith Paramore hit a pair of free throws to tie the game at 44.
 
Both teams began to find their offensive rhythm in the fourth quarter, combining for 47 points in the ten minute segment. The Golden Eagles built their lead to as many as seven points with 1:42 to play. Abilene Christian continued to claw their way back, coming within a point with one second left in the game. A pair of free throws from Lippe put ORU up three and the desperation heave from the Wildcats missed the mark, allowing the Golden Eagles to escape with a Texas-sized win.
 
In the second half, ORU connected on 13 of 14 of their free throw attempts, led by Lippe going a perfect 4-4 in the fourth quarter.
  
THE LEADERS
Oral Roberts: Keni Jo Lippe and Tirzah Moore split roles amongst ORU leaders on Wednesday night. Lippe finished with 16 points, while Moore tallied 14 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double.
Abilene Christian:  Jamie Bonnarens led all scorers with 25 points on the night and split the Wildcats team-high with eight rebounds.
                                                                                                                                                  
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Keni Jo Lippe connected on a season-high in three-pointers made with two.
- Tirzah Moore's double-double was the first of her collegiate career
- Tirzah Moore's 11 rebounds marked a new career-high.
- Ariel Walker finished with a +/- of +16 in 21 minutes of action.
- Hannah Cooper dished out 5 assists on Wednesdy. It marked the fourth time in five games that Cooper has recorded at least five assists.
- ORU secured their first road win of the season on Wednesday night.
- The Golden Eagles outrebounded the Wildcats 42-30. Assists were split perfectly at 14 apiece.

Up Next
After concluding their two game swing through Texas and the non-conference slate, the Golden Eagles will look to protect the Mabee Center as Summit League play begins next week. South Dakota and South Dakota State will visit Tulsa in the opening week of conference action. The Golden Eagles will host the Coyotes on Monday, December 20 while South Dakota State will visit on Wednesday, December 22.
