Quick Hits
• ORU rallied back from a 17-point, first-half deficit at TCU Thursday and held a lead in the second half, but could not complete the comeback.
Max Abmas led the Golden Eagles with 20 points and six assists, while
Francis Lacis had a season-high 14 points and
DeShang Weaver pulled down seven rebounds to match his career best.
• Abmas (22.0 ppg),
Issac McBride (11.0 ppg) and Weaver (10.6) all score in double figures to lead the Golden Eagles offense, which ranks 16th in the NCAA at 84.4 points per game.
• After scoring 20-plus points in each of his last four outings, Abmas has climbed to eighth in the nation in points per game and leads the country making 4.4 3-pointers a game. The junior moved past Eric Perry (1996-2000) for fifth in program history in career triples hitting 218.
• ORU is hitting 13.6 triples per game to lead the nation thanks to a school-record 21 against Southwestern Christian and 19 versus Tulsa. The team has made double-digit 3-pointers in seven of eight outings this season.
• The Golden Eagles currently rank 26th in the NCAA pulling down 42.1 rebounds a contest and are 50th averaging 4.9 blocked shots. Weaver and Lacis are first and third, respectively, posting more than 1.1 blocks per game.
Scouting the Opponent
• ORU has won all three meetings against HBU in the all-time series having spent two seasons together in the Southland Conference. The Golden Eagles last picked up a 95-81 home win in the season opener Nov. 8, 2019. HBU is 2-0 at home, but 0-4 on the road this year and coming off a 100-62 win over Southwestern Adventist.
• The Huskies are strong on the glass ranking 30th in the NCAA averaging 8.5 rebounds more than their opponents. HBU is on the other end of the spectrum when it comes to keeping possession as it turns the ball over an average of 17.7 time a contest.
• Darius Lee paces the Huskies in scoring and rebounding posting 10.3 points and 9.5 rebounds a game and he ranks 31st in the nation on the boards. Brycen Long has hit a team-best 12 3-pointers and scores 9.5 points per game aiding the offense.
