DENVER, Colo. – On Sunday afternoon, the Oral Roberts women's soccer team (0-3-0, 0-2-0 Summit) grabbed an early lead over the Denver Pioneers (4-1-0, 4-0-0 Summit), before falling to the defending conference champions.
The Golden Eagles opened the scoring in the fourth minute of action. The play opened with a free kick from
Michaela Johnson with a touch from
Pamela Caballeros before eventually being knocked in the net off the back of a Pioneer defender for an own goal.
Denver netted a pair of goals in the 16
th minute and 43
rd minute to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
The second half saw two more goals for the Pioneers to extend their lead to three. The Golden Eagles continued their comeback attempt, but were unable to cut the deficit.
