TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts baseball team got their first win of the season on Monday afternoon, taking down Little Rock 7-3.
Isaac Coffey dominated on the mound for the Golden Eagles, tossing 4.2 perfect frames to open the contest. Through six innings of work, Coffey fanned seven Trojans. Facing 19 hitters, Coffey allowed just one hit before closing his evening.
ORU opened the scoring in the third inning when
Jordan Wiley singled to push
Ryan Cash across. More of the same occurred in the fifth inning when Cash singled through the right side to score
Joshua Cox from second to make it a 2-0 game.
The Golden Eagle offense exploded for four runs in the sixth inning.
Caleb Denny led off the inning with a home run into the Golden Eagle bullpen in right field.
Jake McMurray roped a double down the right field line to score Cash and
Anthony Martinez.
Adam Oviedo joined in on the action with an RBI double to left center to score McMurray from third.
Little Rock got three runs in the top of the eighth inning, before ORU tacked on an RBI double from
Jordan Wiley in the bottom half of the frame.
Turning Point
A strong start from
Isaac Coffey paced the way for the Golden Eagles on Monday afternoon. Coffey's 4.2 perfect innings, paired with seven strikeouts allowed the ORU offense to get out to a hot start with the bats.

McMurray posted a new career-high in hits with three, while tying his single-game high with a pair of runs batted in.

Evan Kowalski made his first appearance in an ORU uniform, fanning three Trojans over 1.2 innings of work.
- Cash, McMurray, Wiley, and Oviedo all tallied multi-hit games. Cash added a two-hit performance in the opening contest.
- Cox picked up his first hit as a Golden Eagle – a single through the left side in the fifth inning. Cox promptly added his first stolen base two pitches later.
- Denny added his second home run in as many games with a solo shot to right field to open the sixth inning.
