TULSA, Okla. – Despite a relentless comeback, the Oral Roberts baseball team dropped the finale of the weekend series with Summit League foe North Dakota State, 9-7.
The Golden Eagles fell behind 9-0 before the top of the second inning was finished. Three different ORU pitchers were touched up for the runs before the pitching staff was able to right the ship.
Isaac Coffey got the Golden Eagles going in the second inning with a solo home run to right-center field, which cut the lead to eight. ORU got two more runs in the fifth, highlighted by a
Ryan Cash RBI single to score
Alec Jones.
In the sixth inning,
Blake Shannon ripped a ball down the left field line, scoring
Blake Hall and
Joshua Cox.
Blake Hall hit a missile out of J.L. Johnson Stadium in the eighth inning for a two-run home run, which cut the Bison lead to just two. After Hall's home run, the Bison pitching staff retired the next six ORU hitters to close out the contest.

Adam Scoggins combined for seven shutout innings out of the bullpen, giving the ORU offense a chance to comeback. At the plate, the Golden Eagles continued to chip away, coming up just short.
