OMAHA, Neb. – The Oral Roberts baseball team swept their Friday doubleheader over conference rival Omaha by scores of 12-3 and 2-1, extending their lead in Summit League play.

The Golden Eagles dominated from the first pitch of game one, scoring in five of the first six innings. Blake Hall got ORU on the board with a single to right center in the first inning, scoring Ryan Cash.

A pair of home runs marked the ORU scoring efforts in the second and third innings. Alec Jones launched a no-doubt home run over the bullpen in left field to lead off the second. Jordan Wiley hammered a ball just to the left of the batters eye – A shot that would have been around 415 feet when it landed.

After Omaha scored a pair in the bottom of the third inning, Oral Roberts responded with four runs of their own to take complete control of the game. Jake McMurray got the frame going with a two-run shot to left field, giving ORU a 5-2 lead. After a Ryan Cash single, Caleb Denny roped a RBI double to right field. Denny scored on a single to center field by Jordan Wiley and ORU extended their lead to five.

In the sixth inning, the Golden Eagles scored five runs with two outs to extend their lead to ten runs. Adam Oviedo laced a single to center field, scoring Denny. With the bases loaded, Joshua Cox drew a walk to bring in a run before McMurray roped a two-run single to center. Before the inning ended, Cox scampered home on a wild pitch to push the lead to ten.

In the seventh inning, Omaha avoided the run-rule with a home run but that was all the offense that the Mavericks could muster.

Isaac Coffey spun another gem in game two, continuing his streak of impressive starts. In seven innings of work, Coffey struck out 8 while carrying a one-hitter into the seventh inning.

Omaha and Oral Roberts engaged in a pitchers' duel until Cox opened the scoring in the fifth inning. With two outs, Cox poked a single into right field, scoring Adam Oviedo from second base.

With one out in the seventh inning, Omaha plated a run on a single to right center to tie the game up. With two runners on base, Coffey recorded two consecutive outs to send the game to extra innings.

A pair of singles from McMurray and Cash got the ORU half of the eighth inning going with just one out. Blake Hall was hit by a pitch in the knee to load the bases for Wiley. On a 1-1 pitch, Wiley wore a ball off the thigh to bring in McMurray and give ORU a 2-1 lead.

Adam Scoggins came on to work the bottom half of the eighth inning. After retiring the first batter of the inning on a strikeout, the next two hitters for the Mavericks reached base. Scoggins induced a hard-hit line drive to McMurray, who snagged it and dove on the bag for an unassisted double play to end the game.

Game One Turning Point
Three Golden Eagle home runs from Jones, Wiley, and McMurray ignited the ORU offense. The last time ORU finished a game with three home runs was on February 22, 2020 against Baylor.

Game Two Turning Point
Another dominant start from Isaac Coffey helped lift the Golden Eagles to their fifth straight victory. Carrying a one-hitter into the seventh inning, Coffey continues his dominant season in Summit League play. A pair of hit by pitches drawn by Blake Hall and Jordan Wiley in the eighth inning
