TULSA, Okla. – On a snowy Saturday in Tulsa, the Oral Roberts women's basketball team stayed red-hot, knocking off the Kansas City Roos 77-66 for their third consecutive win. Three Golden Eagles reached double-digit scoring as
Tirzah Moore and
Keni Jo Lippe both ecplised 20 points.
An early 9-0 run for Kansas City put the Golden Eagles in a 9-2 hole early on but ORU answered quickly with a 6-0 run of their own.
Tirzah Moore scored seven points in the first quarter to pace the Golden Eagles but the team trailed by five as they moved to the second frame.
The second quarter was more of the same as
Tirzah Moore continued to dominate inside for the Golden Eagles. The freshman had 15 points going into halftime to lead all scorers. Down by seven with 3:56 to play in the half, the ORU offense caught fire. A deep triple from
Delaney Nix was sandwiched between two
Tirzah Moore finishes in the paint for a quick 7-0 run. A jumper in the paint with 1:26 to play in the half gave Kansas City a 36-34 lead, which would stand until the halftime break.
The two teams traded baskets throughout the first four minutes of the second half before
Ariel Walker knocked down a three-pointer to give ORU the lead for good. Walker's triple sparked a 15-0 run for the Golden Eagles. Throughout the quarter, ORU outscored Kansas City 23-9 and would never give the lead up.
The Roos would not give up easily, cutting the deficit to as few as two with 2:44 to play in the contest. Over the last 2:26 of the ballgame, ORU would go 11-11 at the free throw line, led by Lippe who went 8-8. In the final 39 seconds of the ballgame, Lippe knocked down 6 shots at the free throw line to put the game out of reach and extend ORU's winning streak to three games.
THE LEADERS
Oral Roberts:
Tirzah Moore posted a new career-high with 21 to lead ORU.
Keni Jo Lippe would post 20 points as well, including 10 from the free throw line.
Katie Scott led ORU in rebounding and assists with seven and four, respectively.
Kansas City: Five Pioneers scored in double-figures, led by 14 from Brooklyn McDavid. McDavid also shared the team-high with Dani Winslow as they both pulled down six boards.

- 21 points marks a new career-high for
Tirzah Moore. It also matches the single-game high for a Golden Eagle in the 2021-22 season (Lippe vs. UNLV).
