TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts men's basketball team battles St. Thomas for the first time in program history Thursday, Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. inside Schoenecker Arena in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Quick Hits
• For the 12th time this season, Max Abmas led ORU in scoring with 20 points against Omaha. It was Abmas' eighth 20-plus point game of the season. Trey Phipps scored 12 against the Mavericks and it was his fifth-consecutive double-digit outing. Off the bench, ORU scored 52 points against Omaha.
 
• Abmas (21.2 ppg) and DeShang Weaver (10.1) both score in double figures to lead the Golden Eagles offense, which ranks 16th in the NCAA at 82.6 points per game.
 
• Behind his season-best 38 points in the Mayor's Cup win over Tulsa, Abmas now ranks 8th in the nation in points per game and is third the country making 4.07 3-pointers a game. The junior recently moved past Eric Perry (1996-2000) for fifth in program history in career triples and has 244 in his tenure. He is currently 13th all-time in scoring with 1,431 career points.


• ORU is hitting 12.8 triples per game, first in the nation, thanks to a school-record 21 against Southwestern Christian and 19 versus Tulsa. The team has made double-digit 3-pointers in 13 of 15 outings this season.
 
• The Golden Eagles currently rank 27th in the NCAA pulling down 41 rebounds a contest.
 
Scouting the Opponent
• Oral Roberts will face St. Thomas for the first time in program history. The Tommies joined the Summit League in the 2021-22 season after making the jump from NCAA Division III to Division I.

• The Tommies are coming off an 89-66 win at Western Illinois. The win against the Leathernecks gave the team its second league win of the season. STU's first league win was against Omaha at home.
 
• St. Thomas has three players averaging double-digits; Riley Miller (17.8), Anders Nelson (17.0) and Parker Bjorklund (13.2). Miller and Nelson are third and fourth in the Summit League, respectively, in scoring. Miller averages 4.6 three-point field goals per game and Ryan Lindberg leads the league in overall three-point percentage.
