TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts men's basketball team returns to the Mabee Center for a Saturday night showdown with Oklahoma Baptist November 19 at 7 p.m. Saturday is Military Appreciation Night and members of the military with valid I.D. will receive free tickets to the game.

Quick Hits

• Max Abmas was named preseason Summit League Player of the Year and to the league's preseason First Team. Abmas earned a spot on the Naismith Player of the Year Watch List and the NABC Preseason Player of the Year Watch List as well as on the 2023 Bob Cousy Award Watch List. All for the second-straight season.

• For the first time since 2011-12, the Golden Eagles were picked No. 1 in the Summit League preseason rankings. ORU also sits at No. 15 in the preseason Mid-Major Poll.

• Abmas continues where he left off last season averaging 12.5 points per game. Three other Golden Eagles average double-digits with Issac McBride, Kareem Thompson and Connor Vanover. McBride and Thompson average 10.3 points, and Connor Vanover leads the team in scoring with 13.8 ppg.

• Vanover has totaled 16 blocks through four games. He currently leads the nation in total blocks and is fourth blocks per game (4.0). As a team, ORU is 24th in the nation in blocks.

• ORU is hitting 11.0 triples per game. The team has totaled 44 three-point buckets this season. Extending from last season, ORU has now made 10-plus three-point buckets in 11 of its last 15 games.

• On the glass, ORU leads the Summit League in defensive rebounds per game (29.0).

• This will be the sixth all-time meeting between ORU and Oklahoma Baptist. The Golden Eagles lead the series, 5-0. In the most recent meeting, ORU defeated OBU, 78-66 (Nov. 23, 1985), at the Mabee Center.

• The Bison are 1-2 on the season after losses to MSU Moorhead, 76-67, and at Wayne State, 68-58. In its most recent contest, OBU defeated Missouri Western, 78-67, on Thursday.

• Paul King leads Oklahoma Baptist averaging 19.7 points per game. Trey Doomes is scoring 17.3 points per game and D.J. Freeman is scoring 11 points per game.

• The Bison average 67.7 points per game and shoot 43.9 percent from the field and 30.6 from three-point range. Oklahoma Baptist is getting out-rebounded by opponents by 10 rebounds per game.
