TULSA, Okla. – Despite a double-double from Tirzah Moore, the Oral Roberts women's basketball team fell to SMU, 72-55, Saturday afternoon inside the Mabee Center.
Moore totaled a team-best 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting and pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Ruthie Udoumoh and Hannah Cooper joined Moore in double figures with 13 and 12, respectively.
Following an SMU basket to open the contest, the Golden Eagles scored six straight points to force a Mustang timeout at the 8:09 mark. Out of the stoppage, SMU responded with an 8-0 run to jump in front, 10-6, with 5:40 left in the quarter. The two sides split the final 20 points of the period as SMU took a 20-16 advantage into the second.
The Mustangs netted seven of the first 10 points of the second quarter to take a 27-19 lead at the 7:31 mark. SMU later took their largest lead of the half, 34-21, behind a 7-0 run with 2:50 remaining before the break. Moore stopped the bleeding for ORU with an and-one finish at the rim as 2:06 remained in the half, snapping a 5:10 scoring drought for ORU. Nena Taylor followed with a three at the 1:44 mark to cut the deficit to seven, 34-27, but SMU registered the final basket of the half to take a 36-27 lead into the locker room.
In the third, the two sides split the first 18 points before SMU scored eight of the final 11 in the quarter to take a 14-point advantage, 54-40, into the fourth. With 8:43 remaining in the period, Moore picked up her fourth foul, forcing the sophomore to the bench for the rest of the third. At the time of the foul, Moore had already registered a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.Â
A 5-0 run by the Mustangs saw their lead bloom to 17, 63-46, their largest of the game, with 4:25 remaining in the contest. ORU responded with six of the next eight points to trim the deficit to 13, 65-52, at the 2:16 mark. That was as close as the Golden Eagles could get though as SMU went on to win 72-55.Â
THE LEADERS
Oral Roberts: Moore led three Golden Eagles in double-figures with 16 points and also added a career-best 18 boards, including six on the offensive end.
SMU: Chantae Embry led all scorers with 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting and was one of three Mustangs in double-figures on the afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- On the defensive end, the Golden Eagles held SMU to 28.6 percent shooting from behind the arc.
- In points off turnovers, the Mustangs outscored ORU, 22-8.
- The Golden Eagles were 7-of-8 from the charity stripe in the contest.
- Ariel Walker picked up a team-best three steals and added five rebounds on the day.
- Delaney Nix led ORU with three assists on the afternoon.
GAME NOTES
- With the loss, the Golden Eagles are now 4-5 all-time against SMU.
- Saturday's contest marked the first meeting between the two sides in Tulsa, Oklahoma, since 1987.
- Moore's double-double was her fourth of the season and seventh of her career.
- The sophomore's 15-plus rebound performance was her second of the season.
