TULSA, Okla. – Two of the nation's best shooters go to battle Monday, December 12 as Max Abmas and the Oral Roberts men's basketball team hosts Darius McGhee and the Liberty Flames at 7 p.m. inside the Mabee Center.

It's Jersey Night at the Mabee Center and fans are encouraged to wear the jersey of their favorite sports team. Fans can also receive two (2) free tickets when they present the ORU Basketball ad inside the sports page of Sunday's edition of the Tulsa World.

Max Abmas was named preseason Summit League Player of the Year and to the league's preseason First Team. Abmas earned a spot on the Naismith Player of the Year Watch List and the NABC Preseason Player of the Year Watch List as well as on the 2023 Bob Cousy Award Watch List and Wooden Top 50. All for the second-straight season.

• For the first time since 2011-12, the Golden Eagles were picked No. 1 in the Summit League preseason rankings. ORU is also receiving votes in the College Insider Mid-Major Poll.

• Abmas continues where he left off last season averaging 18.9 points per game. Three other Golden Eagles average double-digits with Carlos Jurgens, Issac McBride and Connor Vanover. Vanover averages 12.1 points, McBride scores 11.4 and Jurgens averages 10.2.

• Vanover has totaled 32 blocks this season. He currently is third in the nation in total blocks and second in blocks per game (3.6). As a team, ORU is 16th in the nation in blocks per game.

• Abmas is 16th in the nation in free-throw percentage and 22nd in three-pointers per game.

• ORU is hitting 11.6 triples per game, which puts the team 5th in the nation and first in the Summit League. The Golden Eagles have totaled 116 three-point buckets this season.

• On the glass, ORU leads the Summit League and is 16th in the nation in defensive rebounds per game (29.3).

• This will be the 2nd all-time meeting between Oral Roberts and Liberty. ORU leads the series, 1-0, winning 90-58 on December 30, 2006, in Provo, Utah, in the BYU Holiday Classic.

Scouting the Opponent
 
• Liberty is 6-3 on the season and on a four game winning streak. In its previous game, LU defeated Virginia-Lynchburg, 101-49, at home.

• Two Flames are averaging double-figures with Darius McGhee leading the way with 21.2 ppg. Brody Peebles scores 12.1 ppg. McGhee is 11th in the nation in points per game.

• Liberty averages 75.7 points per game and shoots 47.3 percent from the field and 39.0 from three-point range. The Flames are 6th in the nation in three-pointers per game.
