The Mavericks raced out to an 11-2 start in the opening 3:17 before an Ariel Walker three-pointer stopped the bleeding and sparked a 10-0 ORU run that put the Golden Eagles on top 12-11 at the 3:46 mark. Omaha answered back with a 7-0 stretch as they regained the lead, 18-12, with 2:09 left in the quarter. In the period, ORU held Omaha to five points.
After a Nix triple :31 ticks into the second half gave ORU a 34-23 lead, the Mavericks fired back with a 14-2 run to take a 37-36 lead with 6:34 remaining on the clock. ORU quickly jumped back in front courtesy of a pair of makes at the line by Moore, which sparked an 8-1 run that gave the Golden Eagles a 44-38 advantage with 3:32 left to play in the quarter. The Mavericks continued to fight back as they trimmed the deficit down to two, 44-42, with just under two minutes to play in the third. On the ensuing possession, Nena Taylor knocked down a triple that jumpstarted a 7-0 run to close the period as ORU took a 51-42 lead into the fourth.
A 6-0 run by the Mavericks trimmed the ORU lead down to five, 53-48, at the 8:45 mark of the fourth. That was as close as Omaha would get though as the Golden Eagles answered with a 6-0 stretch of their own to push their lead back to 11, 59-48 with 6:27 left to play. Following a Nix layup with 4:47 showing on the clock, the Golden Eagles held their largest lead of the night at 13, 63-50.
