TULSA, Okla. – After taking an early lead the Oral Roberts baseball team fell 7-4 to Dallas Baptist in game one of the weekend series Friday evening at J.L. Johnson Stadium.
 
Caleb Denny had the first hit of the night for the Golden Eagles with a single to right in the bottom of the second. After advancing on a wild pitch, he then stole third base with two outs. Joshua Cox came up and hit an RBI single to left to score Denny and give ORU the 1-0 lead.

Dallas Baptist then answered by scoring four runs in the top of the third. After a single by Mathieu Vallee, Jace Grady then doubled to left-center for the RBI to tie the game, 1-1. With Vallee on first, a walk was issued to Andrew Benefield with two outs. George Specht came up and hit a homer to right make it a 4-1 Patriot lead.

In the bottom of the third, the Golden Eagles had back-to-back singles by Alec Jones and Justin Quinn. Mac McCroskey then made contact to send the ball to deep right in foul territory. Jones scored on the tag, but rifle throw by Specht got Quinn out at third to empty the bases.

With a 4-2 lead, Dallas Baptist made it a 5-2 game in the top of the fourth inning with a homerun by Nate Rombach. The Golden Eagles answered in the bottom half of the fourth when a homer by Jackson Loftin to make it 5-3.

DBU added two more runs in the top of the eighth with a two-run homer by Cole Moore to score himself and Blayne Jones. This made it a 7-3 game going into the final frame. Denny double to left center and advanced to third on a wild pitch to get things going for the Golden Eagles. Loftin grounded out, but scored Denny in the next at-bat to make it a 7-4 game as the comeback then fell short.

- Friday's contest marked the 56th meeting all-time between the Golden Eagles and Patriots.

- It was the first home loss of the season for ORU at J.L. Johnson Stadium as the Golden Eagles move to 8-1 this season at home.
