TULSA, Okla. – The the Oral Roberts men's basketball team will hit the hardwood as the No. 3 seed in Summit League Championship Quarterfinal round Sunday, March 6 against No. 6 Western Illinois at 8:30 p.m. in the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Max Abmas was named to the All-Summit League First Team as he leads the league and team in scoring as he's now had 25 consecutive games with 10-plus points. He had 14 points against USD. Five Golden Eagles scored in double-figures against South Dakota. Issac McBride was named All-Summit League Honorable Mention.
 
• Abmas (22.7 ppg), McBride (12.1 ppg) average double figures to lead the Golden Eagles offense, which ranks 4th in the NCAA at 83.8 points per game. ORU has eight players who have scored 100-plus points this season.
 
• Behind two 38-point outings this season, Abmas now ranks 5th in the nation in points per game and is 3rd the country making 3.89 3-pointers a game. The junior recently moved past Eric Perry (1996-2000) for fifth in program history in career triples and has 296 in his tenure. He is currently 10th all-time in scoring with 1,769 career points.
 
• ORU is hitting 11.8 triples per game, which is 3rd in the nation, thanks to a school-record 21 against Southwestern Christian and 19 versus Tulsa. The team has made double-digit 3-pointers in 21 games this season.
 
• The Golden Eagles currently rank 11th in the NCAA pulling down 40.4 rebounds a contest and 5th in the nation in defensive rebounds per game (29.4).


Scouting the Opponent
 
• This will be the 51st all-time meeting between ORU and South Dakota. The Golden Eagles lead the series, 38-12, and are 2-1 at a neutral site. In the first meeting this season, ORU defeated the Leathernecks, 87-86 (Jan. 8), on the road and fell, 90-85 (Feb. 3), at home.
 
• Western Illinois finished sixth in the Summit League standings. The Leathernecks dropped their last game, 83-77, at home to Denver.
 
• Trenton Massner leads WIU with 16.4 points per game. Massner was named to the All- Summit League Second Team and All-Defensive Team. Will Carius averages 14.7 ppg and Colton Sandage scores 13.4 ppg. Luka Barisic scores 14.5 ppg and was named to the All- Newcomer Team, and Honorable Mention. The Leathernecks are 26th in the country in offense.
