TULSA, Okla. – Oral Roberts Head Coach Austin Risenhoover announced Wednesday the addition of transfers, Carty Kingsbury and Haley Nichols, to the 2023 women's soccer team.
Risenhoover on the 2023 Signees:
"We are looking forward to adding Carty and Haley. They embody our culture of "Being a Champion" in all aspects of our program. We always look at the soccer and culture piece and we just got better in both. Coming off a [Summit League] final, they see what we are doing and they can't wait to help us lift a trophy."
Kingsbury comes to ORU as a sophomore midfielder from Texas Tech University. While with the Red Raiders, Kingsbury appeared in four matches and logged 32 minutes. A native of Windsor, Colorado, Kingsbury was a three-year letterman at Windsor High School and the Max Preps Player of the Year. Kingsbury also was named a two-time first-team all-conference member, an all-state first-team member and was a Colorado Gatorade Player of the Year nominee.
"Carty is a very intelligent soccer player that will help us dictate the rhythm and will help from a physical aspect in our midfield as a ball winner," said Risenhoover. "Coming from Texas Tech she has experience in a good conference and knows what it takes. Carty will make a big impact for this team and the conference."
Nichols transfers to the Golden Eagles as a junior from Tulsa University. The 5-foot-7 midfielder is a native of Prosper, Texas. In her two seasons with the Golden Hurricane, Nichols played in five matches and registered one goal. Prior to her time with Tulsa, Nichols was a four-year letterwinner at Prosper High School and played club soccer for the Dallas Texans ECNL and Solar Development Academy.
"Haley, is a dynamic, athletic and technical attacking player for us," stated Risenhoover. "When we watch Haley she fits our style and our priorities. She is very versatile and sees the game at a high level. Haley is definitely going to improve what we do going forward."
