#ORUWBB Notches Road Win at Denver, 93-83

DENVER, Colo. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball team picked up their third straight win Thursday evening as they defeated Denver, 93-83, inside Hamilton Gymnasium in Denver, Colorado.

Hannah Cooper led the way offensively for the Golden Eagles as the senior poured in 28 points on 11-of-18 shooting to go along with four rebounds and three assists. The double-digit performance was Cooper's 20th of the season and 16th straight.

Guard Ariel Walker netted a career-high 24 points and pulled down six rebounds in the win. Tirzah Moore rounded out the double-figure scorers for ORU as the sophomore finished with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting. The Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, native also added 10 rebounds for her third straight double-double.

Ruthie Udoumoh chipped in with nine points and a game-best 11 rebounds, nearly missing a double-double. The double-digit rebounds marked the second straight game the junior accomplished the feat.

ORU opened the contest with six of the first eight points before Denver scored 11 of the next 17 to take a 13-12 advantage into the media timeout at the 4:16 mark. Out of the stoppage, the Golden Eagles used a 10-3 stretch to take a 22-16 lead with 1:11 left in the quarter. The Pioneers responded with the final five points of the period to trim the lead to one, 22-21. 

After Denver drew even, 24-24, in the opening minute of action in the second, ORU responded with five quick points to force a Pioneer timeout at the 8:27 mark. Leading 39-37, the Golden Eagles used a 14-3 run to take their largest lead of the contest, 53-40, with :50 ticks left until halftime. A three-pointer from the Pioneers marked the final basket of the half as ORU headed to the break with a 53-43 advantage.

In the third, the Golden Eagles kept Denver at arm's length until the Pioneers drew within five, 71-66, following a 7-1 run with 1:10 left in the period. Cooper stopped the stretch on the ensuing possession with a layup as ORU took a 73-66 lead into the fourth. Delaney Nix and Udoumoh led the charge in the quarter for the Golden Eagles as the two totaled five points apiece. 

Following a Denver triple to start the fourth, ORU responded with a 6-0 stretch to push their lead back to double-figures, 79-69, at the 6:11 mark. During the run, Cooper scored all six points for the Golden Eagles. The two sides split the final 28 points as ORU went on to win, 93-83.

THE LEADERS
Oral Roberts: Cooper led all players with 28 points on 11-of-18 shooting. Moore pulled down 10 rebounds and added 16 points for a double-double.

Denver: Emma Smith topped the Pioneers with 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting on the evening.
