STILLWATER, Okla. – The Oral Roberts men's basketball team dropped an 81-60 game Sunday afternoon at Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Issac McBride led all scorers Sunday with 14 points as he and
Jailen Bedford the Golden Eagles as Bedford followed with 13. It was the fifth-consecutive double-digit outing for Bedford and McBride's eighth of the season.
The two teams traded threes to begin the game and made it 10-10 score at the first media timeout. Oklahoma State then rattled off a 12-0 run that was eventually broken by
Kareem Thompson with a deep three. OSU then sparked a 6-0 run that was then broken by
DeShang Weaver to bring it back to within 11. The Golden Eagles would not go away. ORU made an 8-0 run to bring the game back within six. The Cowboys managed a 10-0 run to push their lead up to 16 with 3:38 left in the first.
Ashton Smith would check in at that time to make ORU career debut. The Golden Eagles would go into halftime down 48-27 as the Cowboys shot 55 percent in the first half, their best of the season.
Bedford opened the second half with offensive board and bucket to try and give the Golden Eagles a spark. ORU was able to cut the deficit to 17, but the Cowboys would go back up by 26 with 14 minutes left in the game. ORU was on a five minute drought during that time, but would end the drought with a bucket in the paint by Weaver. Smith would score his first career points with a pair of free-throws to pull the team to within 19. It would be the closest ORU would get to the Cowboys. The Golden Eagles trailed by as much as 30 with under four minutes to go until a 10-2 run would put the team back before the final buzzer.
The Golden Eagles shot 39 percent from the field, their worst shooting night in five games. The Cowboys had one of their best days of the season from the field shooting 50 percent overall and 47 percent from three-point range.
Individual Leaders
Oral Roberts: McBride led all scorers with 14 points Thompson tied his season high with seven rebounds.
Oklahoma State: Bryce Thompson and Quion Williams each had 13 points on the night and Eric Dailey Jr. had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
