MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball team came up short against #12 Kansas State, 102-59, Monday night in Manhattan, Kansas.
Senior forward
Ruthie Udoumoh continues her impressive stretch of play as she recorded her third straight double-double with a 15 point and 10 rebound outing. Udoumoh has now reached double-figure scoring in six consecutive contests and nine of ten games this season.
Guards
Hannah Cooper and
Taleyah Jones rounded out the double-digit scorers for ORU as both players added 10 points. Jones shot a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line as she sits at 92% on the season.
The Golden Eagles and Wildcats played a competitive first quarter. After jumping out to a quick 13-5 lead going into the first media timeout, ORU came firing back. Out of the timeout, Udoumoh scored on a putback layup. The next offensive possession, freshman
Emily Robinson knocked down a pullup three off the left wing in transition. This brought the Golden Eagles within five before a pair of Zyanna Walker free throws put K-State up 17-10. ORU closed the quarter on a 7-2 run during the last 2:20.
Sara Rodrigues sparked the run with a corner three. Jones and
Jalei Oglesby followed Rodrigues as they both got to the rim and converted on layups. The Golden Eagles went into the second quarter down 19-17.
The Wildcats opened the second quarter with a three point play. Cooper responded by draining a three for her first points of the night. K-State responded with a 9-0 run after three different players each hit a three pointer. Udoumoh broke the run with a free throw before the Wildcats went back to work with another 9-0 run. The Golden Eagles found themselves down 42-27 going into the second quarter media timeout. Both teams traded baskets for the remaining minutes of play as K-State went into the half up 47-32.
The home team amped up their defensive intensity during the third quarter and began to take control of the contest. The Wildcats held ORU to no field goals until the 3:56 minute mark after Udoumoh ended the drought. K-State outscored the Golden Eagles 33-14 in the third as ORU shot just 4-of-21 from the floor. The Wildcats went into the fourth quarter of play up 82-46.
Ayoka Lee opened the final period of play with a quick layup in the paint. The center couldn't be stopped as she controlled the paint for her team. K-State remained in control throughout the fourth quarter as they ended ORU's two game winning streak.

Oral Roberts: Udoumoh led the Golden Eagles with 15 points and 10 rebounds while Cooper tallied three assists.

Oklahoma Wesleyan: Lee paced the Wildcats as she put up 24 points and 21 rebounds. Taryn Sides dished out a game-high 10 assists on the night.
