Finishing the night with 21 points, Issac McBride led ORU in points with his sixth career 20-plus point game and sixth of the season. Kansas City then went on a 13-0 run to lead by 15, but extended the run to 24-5. The Golden Eagles trailed by as much as 20 with 6:24 remaining in the first. After a three-pointer by the Roos, McBride hit a final possession bucket to make it a 38-23 score at the half. ORU shot 33.3 percent in the first as the home team had a 46.7 percentage.

To start the second half, ORU trailed by 25, but after a 10-0 run by Kansas City in the first four minutes, the Golden Eagles found themselves in a more difficult situation. McBride earned his 1,000th career point in the second half and Kareem Thompson sparked some offensive life by hitting three-consecutive three-pointers to pull ORU back to within 22. It was part of a 13-2 run to bring ORU back to within 19. With 4:50 to play, ORU trailed by 18, but would go on a two minute scoring drought, trailing 71-53.
