#ORUWBB Handles Kansas City for Fifth Straight Win, 86-68

TULSA, Okla. – Four players reached double-figures as the Oral Roberts women's basketball team registered their fifth straight win Saturday afternoon, defeating Kansas City, 86-68, inside the Mabee Center.

Hannah Cooper compiled a strong all-around performance to lead the Golden Eagles as the senior finished with 25 points, six rebounds, a career-high six steals and five assists. The El Paso, Texas, native was sharp from the field as she finished 8-of-14 from the floor, 2-of-3 from three and 7-of-8 from the charity stripe. Cooper's 20-plus point performance marked her third straight and eighth of the season.

Ruthie Udoumoh followed in the scoring column with a career-high 23 points on 11-of-21 shooting and added 12 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. Sharpshooter Delaney Nix poured in 18 points and knocked down a game-best four three-pointers. Forward Tirzah Moore rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Golden Eagles as the sophomore finished with 10 points to go along with 12 rebounds for her fifth straight double-double. 

Ariel Walker orchestrated the ORU offense on the afternoon as the senior dished out a career-high 10 assists.

It was a back-and-forth start between the two sides as KC held a slim one-point, 6-5, advantage at the under-five media timeout. Out of the stoppage, the Golden Eagles used a 12-4 stretch to take a 17-10 lead with 1:03 remaining in the opening period. During the run, Cooper and Nix led the charge with five points apiece. The Roos closed the quarter with the final basket as the two sides headed to the second quarter with ORU leading 17-12.

The Golden Eagles broke the game open in the second as they used an 18-4 run to take a 35-16 lead at the 6:15 mark. During the stretch, Udoumoh paced ORU with nine points. After the Roos cut the advantage to 15, 37-22, ORU answered with a 6-0 spurt to push their lead to 21, 43-22, as 2:41 remained before the break. Despite KC netting six of the final 10 points of the half, the Golden Eagles took a commanding 47-28 advantage into the locker room.

In the third, ORU took their largest lead of the game, 56-34, behind a 7-0 spurt that was capped off by Cooper's second triple of the contest at the 6:53 mark. The Roos outscored the Golden Eagles, 14-10, over the final 6:53 as the contest shifted to the fourth with ORU on top 66-48. Cooper led the charge for the Golden Eagles in the quarter as the senior poured in nine of her 25 points.

Back-to-back baskets by the Roos to open the fourth drew them to within 14, 66-52, as 8:51 showed on the clock. After ORU extended their advantage back to 18, 74-56, KC responded with a 10-2 run to trim the lead to 10, 76-66, as 3:55 remained in the contest. Nix halted the Roos run with a reverse layup and sparked a 10-0 stretch for the Golden Eagles as their lead bloomed to 20, 86-66 with under a minute left in the game. A pair of free throws by KC marked the final points of the contest as ORU went on to claim their fifth straight win, 86-68.

THE LEADERS
Oral Roberts: Cooper totaled a team-high 25 points on 8-of-14 shooting and Udoumoh followed with a career-best 23 to go along 12 boards for a double-double.

Kansas City: Manna Mensah registered a game-best 32 points and Tamia Ugass recorded a double-double after finishing with 18 points and a game-high 20 rebounds.
