• Oral Roberts earned its seventh trip to the NCAA Tournament after winning its fifth Summit League Tournament Championship. ORU won its seventh Summit League regular season championship after going a perfect 18-0, the second team in league history to go undefeated.
•
Max Abmas was named Summit League Player of the Year and to the league's First Team. Abmas earned a spot on the Naismith Player of the Year Watch List and the NABC Preseason Player of the Year Watch List as well as on the 2023 Bob Cousy Award Watch List and Wooden Top 50. He recently was named to the Cousy Award Top 10 Finalist list and the Naismith Midseason Player of the Year list.
• Abmas is a three-time All-American earning honorable mention honors by the Associated Press.
• ORU is also No. 3 in the College Insider Mid-Major Poll. For the first time in program history, ORU has been mentioned in the AP Top 25 Poll for eight-straight weeks.
• The Golden Eagles have the nation's longest winning streak (17) and have won 30 games overall making it the most wins for ORU as a Division I program. It's the second most wins in program history (36, 1989-90).
• Oral Roberts is the only team in the nation to go undefeated in conference play this season, and the only team to ever go undefeated in conference and tournament play and to win the tournament championship by 30-plus points.
• ORU won its second Summit League championship in three seasons.
• Abmas is averaging 22.2 points per game which is 7th in the nation. Two other Golden Eagles average double-digits with
Issac McBride and
Connor Vanover. Vanover averages 12.9 ppg and McBride averages 11.9 ppg. McBride was named to the All-Summit League Second Team.
• Vanover has totaled 109 blocks this season. He currently is second in the nation in total blocks and second in blocks per game (3.3). As a team, ORU is 5th in the nation in blocks per game (5.4). He was named to the to the All-Summit League First Team and was the league's Defensive Player and Newcomer of the Year. He holds ORU's single-season blocks record.
• Abmas is 6th in the nation in free-throw percentage and 6th in three-pointers per game.
• ORU is hitting 10.8 triples per game, which puts the team 2nd in the nation. The Golden Eagles have totaled 367 three-point buckets this season.
• On the glass, ORU is 10th in the nation in defensive rebounds with per game (28.0).
• Head Coach
Paul Mills has been named a finalist for three National Coach of the Year Awards (Hugh Durham Award, Jim Phelan Award and Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award.).
• This will be the first-ever meeting between Oral Roberts and Duke.
