TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts men's soccer team will open the 2023 regular season with a pair of road games beginning Friday, Aug. 25 at UC Santa Barbara at 9 p.m. CT in Santa Barbara, California, followed by a contest at Cal Poly at 6:30 p.m. CT on Monday, Aug. 28 in San Luis Obispo, California.

Quick Hits

• Last season, the Golden Eagles went 11-4-2, 7-1 in league play to win the Summit League regular season championship for the third time in four seasons. ORU won the regular season outright and will host the 2023 Summit League Championship. The program went a perfect 8-0 at home and won six of its last seven matches.
   
• ORU won all two of its exhibition matches by a combined score of 5-0. The Golden Eagles won 1-0 (Aug. 12) against NSU at home and 4-0 (Aug. 18) at Rogers State.
   
• Reed Berry and Schinieder Mimy were named Summit League preseason Players to Watch.
   
• ORU returned six of its All-Summit League Team members which includes Shane Anderson, Berry, Francisco Lopez, Felipe Medina, Schinieder Mimy and Joel Quashie.
   
• The Golden Eagles were picked second in the Summit League Preseason Coaches' Poll along with two first place votes.
   
• Head Coach Ryan Bush is back for his 11^th season at the helm for the Golden Eagles. Bush has an 80-65-21 all-time record at ORU as the men's soccer coach. Coach Bush was named 2019, 2021 & 2022 Summit League Coach of the Year.
   
• Overall, the Golden Eagles returned 19 players and added 11 newcomers to the 2023 squad.

Opponent Information

UC Santa Barbara

• Last season, the Gauchos went 10-4-6 and 4-1-4 in Big West play and won the league. UCSB was picked to finish first in the 2023 Big West preseason coaches' poll. ORU is 0-1 all-time against the Gauchos. In their last contest, UCSB defeated ORU, 2-1, on October 26, 1997, in Santa Barbara.
   
• Leroy Zeller, Alexis Ledoux and Lucas Gonzalez look to lead UCSB as all were named to the Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Cal Poly

• Cal Poly went 2-11-4 and 2-3-4 in Big West Conference action to finish ninth. The Mustangs were picked to finish ninth in the 2023 Big West preseason coaches' poll. This will be the first-ever meeting between the Golden Eagles and Mustangs.
   
• The Mustangs return their leading goal scorer from last season in Tony Ruiz.
