TULSA, Okla. – For the first time in 16 years, the Oral Roberts women's soccer team defeated Tulsa in dramatic fashion Sunday evening, 2-1, at Hurricane Stadium.

After trailing by one at the 51st minute, the Golden Eagles would rally to claim their first win at Tulsa in 20 years and snapped a 16 year losing streak against TU.

The Golden Eagles battled closely with Tulsa in the first half. Neither team could find the back of the net in the first 45 minutes as they went into the break tied, 0-0. Both ORU and Tulsa turned up the heat in the second half, but the Golden Eagles tallied more shots on goal than their opponent.

Kayla Fernandez got Tulsa on the board first after she headed in a pass by Liz Campbell in the 51st minute to put Tulsa up, 1-0.

ORU would not be denied as the Golden Eagles turned up the intensity 20 minutes later. Junior Ava Crimmings, in her first action of the season, headed in a perfect ball from Samantha See off a free kick to even the score, 1-1, in the 70th minute.

Oral Roberts would then capitalize on a Tulsa turnover 90 seconds later when sophomore Carty Kingsbury connected off a touch by Abigail Hoffman to put the Golden Eagles up, 2-1. From there, ORU played strong defense and maintained possession for the remainder of the match to defeat its cross-town rival for the first time since 2007.
