INDIANAPOLIS – Trinity Freeman registered 19 kills on 28 swings to power the Oral Roberts volleyball team to a sweep of UC Riverside (28-26, 25-20, 25-17) in its final match of the Hampton Inn Invitational Saturday morning in Indianapolis. 

In addition to her match-best 19 kills, Freeman, who was named to the Hampton Inn Invitational All-Tournament Team, scooped up 10 Highlander attacks for her second double-double of the season. The junior also totaled an impressive .643 hitting percentage, which marked a career-best. Middle blocker Kedron Burk put together a strong performance of her own as the sophomore logged a career-high 10 kills and a .625 attack percentage. 

Setter Kalena Vaivai orchestrated the ORU offensive attack, which recorded a .308 hitting percentage, with 31 assists. The senior narrowly missed her third double-double of the season, finishing with nine digs. On the backrow, Breanna Rivas totaled a team-best 15 digs. 

The Golden Eagles registered the first three points of the opening set before the Highlanders responded with seven of the next 12. After UC Riverside evened the score at 17-17, forcing an ORU timeout, the Golden Eagles answered with a 7-1 run to take a 24-17 lead. The Highlanders fired back with a 7-0 stretch to tie the set at 24-24. ORU eventually held off the UC Riverside rally as Freeman registered a block and a kill to close out the opening set, 28-26.

Trailing 19-18 in the second set, the Golden Eagles responded with a 7-1 run to close out the game and take command of the match. During the stretch, Freeman logged three kills followed by two from Burk. The second set was a back-and-forth affair that featured 10 ties and six lead changes. 

After the two sides traded the first 14 points of the final set, ORU compiled a 7-2 stretch to take a 14-9 advantage. The Golden Eagle lead later grew to eight, 19-11, following a 5-1 stretch. The two sides traded the final 12 points as ORU finished off the sweep with a 25-17 victory.

• Freeman logged her fifth career double-double and 34th double-digit kill performance.
• The junior also registered her 16th career 15-plus kill performance.
• Rivas led ORU in digs for the 14th time in her career.
• The junior also totaled double-digit digs for the 24th time.
• Vaivai dished out 30-plus assists for the 12th time in her Golden Eagle career.
• As a team, the Golden Eagles held UC Riverside to a .145 attack percentage.
• ORU totaled seven blocks to UC Riverside's two.
• Natassia Baptiste led all players with four blocks, while Freeman followed with three.
• The Golden Eagles tallied nine service aces led by three apiece from Vaivai and Baptiste.
• With the win, ORU improved to 3-0 all-time against the Highlanders.
