DENVER, Colo. – The Golden Eagles flew out to Denver, Colorado on Tuesday morning as they gear up for a midweek showdown against Top Drawer Soccer's #1 Denver Pioneers.

Pioneers vs Golden Eagles

• Denver is 14-3-2 in the all-time series, including 9-3-1 in Summit League regular season play.
• The Pioneers are 8-2-1 at home in the series with the only two losses coming on the Diane Wendt Sports Complex during the COVID-19 pandemic.
• Last season, Denver won at the Case Soccer Complex 1-0 to clinch the regular season title after splitting the points in a 1-1 draw four weeks earlier in Colorado.

Scouting Denver

• Denver moved up to No. 1 in the Top Drawer Soccer Poll on September 16, 2024, its second time as the top team in the country in program history. DU kept its spot on Sept. 23 and Sept. 30.
• Denver is 136-10-18 when scoring first since head coach Jamie Franks joined the staff as an assistant in 2012.
• Senior attacking midfielder Sam Bassett was named to the 2024 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List on August 22.

• Omar Mora is currently tied for 9th in the NCAA in the Golden Boot Race with a Summit League-best seven goals .
• Luis Flores, the reigning Summit League Offensive Peak Performer of the Week, is currently in the league's top-ten leaderboards for Goals and Total Points.
•  The two forwards have combined for three braces against #24 Kentucky (Mora), #24 UCSB (Mora), and Tulsa (Flores).

O Muralha

• Joao Mesquita is coming off his third career clean sheet (Omaha, Cal Poly, and UTRGV)
• He currently ranks #1 in the NCAA with a .895 Save Percentage and is 9th in Saves Per Game with 4.84 in 554 minutes of action
• Mesquita is the Summit League Leader in Goals Against Average, Saves, and Saves Per Game.

Running it Back

• Head Coach Ryan Bush enters the season 8 wins shy of hitting the century mark of career wins at ORU (94-71-27)
• Luis Flores enters the year listed as one of United Soccer Coaches' 2024 NCAA Division I Men's Players to Watch after a 2023 campaign that saw him break ORU single-season goals scored record (15).
• Flores and Schinieder Mimy were selected to the Summit League Preseason Players to Watch list. This is the second consecutive Player to Watch honor for Mimy and the first for Flores.
• At the end of this past summer, Brian McCurdy was promoted to Associate Head Coach.
• Along with Mimy and Flores, ORU returns starters Jakub Grzesiak, Juan Moreno, and Thiago Patto back for the 2024 season.
