FARGO, N.D. – Two second-half goals by NDSU proved too much as the Oral Roberts women's soccer team fell 2-1 Thursday night in Fargo.

The first half began quickly with both teams looking to establish an offensive rhythm. Each school registered two shots in the first 15 minutes of play. ORU earned two corner kick opportunities but could not convert for a score. Both programs went into the break tied 0-0.

The Golden Eagles opened the second half with immediate offensive pressure and earned a corner kick in the 48th minute. Ariana Fresquez lined up to take the kick and sent a high ball into the middle of NDSU's box. The ball spit out towards the far backside where defender Alani Chaple stepped up and launched a missile towards the Bison goal. Chaple's shot went right past the goalkeeper and into the upper right-hand corner for her first career goal. ORU held onto the lead for a little more than 10 minutes before NDSU earned a similar look on goal. Ava Stanchina took a power shot from outside ORU's box and evened the score 1-1. Then, in the 83rd minute, NDSU capitalized on a failed clearance by the ORU backline and scored again to take a 2-1 lead. The Golden Eagles were unable to mount a comeback in the final minutes and surrendered their first Summit League game of the 2024 campaign.
