Arne Lifts #ORUWSOC Over Kansas City

The Basics
Score: Oral Roberts 1 – Kansas City 0
Record: ORU (8-6-2), (3-1-1) – KC (7-6-3), (1-5-0)
Location: Case Soccer Complex (Tulsa, Oklahoma)

TULSA, Okla. – Carson Arne's first career goal lifted the Oral Roberts women's soccer team past Kansas City, 1-0, on Senior Night at the Case Soccer Complex.

Prior to the match, ORU women's soccer had the honor of celebrating four terrific seniors (Haley Nichols, Sophie Nash, Marcella Alves, and Samantha Guzman) on all of their hard work and accomplishments during their Golden Eagle career.

ORU opened the match, firing two shots toward the goal in the first two minutes of play. Kansas City regrouped from the early onslaught and worked its offense to some quality looks. Both teams rattled off a few shots over the course of the first half, but both programs went into the break tied 0-0.

Less than three minutes into the second half, Julia Thasaphong took a shot on goal that ricocheted off a Roo defender. Carson Arne gathered the rebound and fired a shot into the top right corner of the net to put ORU on top by one. The Golden Eagles looked to maintain possession of the ball and play stout defensively. The intensity increased drastically as the clock counted down. Three yellow cards were handed out in the second half alone. Key stops by the ORU backline and a brilliant save by Alexa Riefer in the 82nd minute helped the Golden Eagles secure three crucial points as the end of Summit League play approaches.
