KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Golden Eagles began the second half of Summit League play falling to the Kansas City Roos in three sets (24-26, 9-25, 16-25).
The Golden Eagles led 7-4 to open the match but a Roos 13-4 scoring run made for a difficult comeback. Down 17-22, three UMKC attack errors and a 7-0 run helped ORU flip the set on its head, 24-22. On set point, two service aces from the Roos sparked a 4-0 run and loss in set one.
Set two was all Kansas City as the Roos started out with an 8-3 advantage. ORU logged 10 total errors in the set making it difficult for the Golden Eagles to stay afloat. Kansas City closed the set on a 17-6 run, earning set two.

Natassia Baptiste,
Thaynara de Jesus and
Trinity Freeman helped ORU keep up with UMKC in the third set, leveling the score at nine. The Golden Eagles struggled to get anything going in set three, falling behind 11-20 and ultimately sealing the match.
Match Notes
- Trinity Freeman led the Golden Eagles with nine kills to go along with three digs and one block assist.
- Hope Hickman and Natassia Baptiste also helped out on offense, racking up four kills each. Baptiste also recorded two block assists on defense.
- Breanna Rivas racked up seven digs in the first set and 14 on the night. Rivas has logged 10+ digs in six of her last seven matches.
- Rachel Resta tallied a match-high 19 assists. Resta has logged 10+ assists in every match this season other than one (9/7 vs. Tulsa: 9). She also carded the Golden Eagles only service aces, recording two in the first set and match.
- ORU is three wins away from 1,000 wins as a program.
