#ORUWSOC Dominates Denver, Remains Undefeated in League Play

The Basics

Record: ORU (7-5-2), (2-0-1) – DU (7-5-1), (1-1-1)
Location: Case Soccer Complex (Tulsa, Oklahoma)

TULSA, Okla. – A second-half brace by Julia Thasaphong pushed the Oral Roberts women's soccer past Denver, 4-2, Saturday afternoon in Tulsa.

The Pioneers opened the scoring quickly in the first half. Jadyn Goodrich scored her first goal of the season in just the 4th minute off assists from Megan Murray and Jordan Crockett. ORU regrouped and wasted no time attacking the Denver defense. In the 9th minute, Samantha Guzman intercepted a failed Pioneer clearance inside the box and rifled a shot into the back of the net. Seventeen minutes later, ORU secured a corner kick and was knocking on the door of another goal. Ariana Fresquez took the kick from the right corner and lofted it to the backside of the Denver box. Jordan Grigsby headed the kick back into the middle of the box and found Hannah Voskuhl, who headed the pass over the keeper's outstretched arm for her first career goal. The Golden Eagles took a 2-1 lead and carried it into the half.

Out of the break, a rejuvenated ORU squad took the field and went right back to attacking the Pioneers' backline. In the 53rd minute, Kennedy Langebartels launched a right-to-left cross that skipped past a Denver defender and found an open Julia Thasaphong who shot it right by the keeper. Just seven minutes later, in a nearly identical setup, Langebartels once again found Thasaphong on a right-to-left cross, and Thasaphong made the Pioneers pay again. After going up 4-1, ORU shifted to a more defensive style of play, looking to close out the remainder of the match. Denver was able to score one more goal in the 77th minute, but the Golden Eagles hung on and earned their first win over the Pioneers since 2017.

The Golden Eagles sit on top of the Summit League standing in first place with seven points.
