TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles put up a resilient defensive effort against No. 4 Denver at Case Soccer Complex on Saturday afternoon, but a second-half goal by Ian Smith ultimately secured a narrow 1-0 victory for the Pioneers.

Denver's offense, which ranks among the best in the nation, was stymied by a disciplined ORU backline for much of the night, though a well-executed combination play in the 62nd minute broke the deadlock.
Denver's game-winner came when Tyler Schommer threaded a pass through the ORU defense to Ronan Wynne, who quickly set up Smith just outside the box. Smith drilled a low shot to the left corner, past the outstretched hands of the Golden Eagles' keeper, sealing the decisive goal. The Golden Eagles battled back, pressing forward in search of an equalizer and generating multiple set-piece opportunities, but were unable to convert against Denver's organized defense.

With this result, ORU concludes a challenging Summit League contest, putting up a strong performance against one of the nation's top teams. The Golden Eagles will look to regroup as they head into their next match, aiming to build on the solid defensive showing and find success in the attacking third.
