FARGO, N.D. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball team suffered a, 73-83, setback at North Dakota State Thursday night inside the Scheels Center.
Taleyah Jones led all scorers with 23 points as she recorded her tenth game of 20 or more points.
Emily Robinson (14),
Ruthie Udoumoh (12), and
Jalei Oglesby (10) round out the double-figure scorers for ORU.
The Bison jumped out to a quick 7-2 lead as they hit three of their first shots from the field. The Golden Eagles responded with a 9-0 run of their own as they took their first lead of the game. ORU stretched its lead out to six before NDSU began to climb back. The Bison went on a 7-0 run over the final 2:22 of the first quarter to hold an 18-17 lead at the break.
Both teams went back in forth to begin the second before NDSU found itself up 29-27 at the first media timeout. Freshman Robinson drained a three out of the timeout to give ORU the lead. The Golden Eagles closed out the first half on a 6-2 run as they held a 41-36 lead at the intermission.
The Bison found their offensive rhythm in the third quarter as they put up 28 points in 10 minutes. NDSU hit 12-of-19 from the floor why ORU struggled shooting 3-of-18. Seven different Bison scored in the third quarter and the home team jumped out to a 64-58 lead heading into the fourth.
The Golden Eagles remained in striking distance for the majority of the quarter until NDSU's lead reached double-digits with 5:22 left to play. The Bison grew the lead out to as many as 15 before ORU closed the final 90 seconds on a 7-2 run. NDSU claimed the home win 83-73.
