ORU led by nine in the first half and took a 38-35 lead into the halftime locker room. Omaha was able to build a nine-point lead with 3:44 to go, due in part to a team-high 19 points from Marquel Sutton. But, with just over two and a half minutes to play, the Golden Eagles went to work.
Isaac McBride and Kareem Thompson both scored at the rim before a Jailen Bedford three cut the deficit to just two points. Bedford would also cap off the scoring with a three at the buzzer, but it wasn't enough. Bedford led all scorers in the game with 24 points and added six rebounds, shooting 50% both from the field and from beyond the arc.
McBride followed with 14 points, three rebounds and three assists, while DeShange Weaver added 14 points, a team-high eight rebounds and a block. Sutton's team-high 19 points for Omaha came on 8-12 FG shooting, while Frankie Fidler led the Mavericks with a game-high 13 boards.
