DENVER, Colo. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball team fell to Denver, 102-92, Saturday afternoon inside Hamilton Gymnasium.

Taleyah Jones and Hannah Cooper both eclipsed the 30-point mark this afternoon while Ruthie recorded her Summit League-leading 10th double-double, but the Pioneers' season-high 16 made three pointers proved to be the difference.

ORU opened the first quarter with a quick 8-0 burst behind baskets by Emily Robinson, Cooper, and Udoumoh. Denver quieted the run after hitting a three on back-to-back possessions.
Meghan Weinrich and Jones converted at the rim before the media timeout as the Golden Eagles held a 14-9 lead at the break. The Pioneers climbed back to tie the game after six first quarter threes before Cooper drained a midrange jumper as time ran out. ORU led 27-25 after the first 10 minutes of action.

Both teams traded baskets in the opening minutes of the second quarter before Denver connected on back-to-back triple to lead by six. Jalei Oglesby scored five of her seven points in the second after hitting a jumper and converting on a three-point play in transition. The Pioneers remained hot from three, however, and buried five in the quarter. Denver held a 52-46 advantage at the half.

The Pioneers extended their lead during the third quarter as they outscored ORU 27-18 in the period. Cooper kept the Golden Eagles afloat scoring 10 of her 31 points in the third. Cooper shot an efficient 3-of-4 from the field and knocked down all four of her free throws. Cooper cut the Denver lead to 15 after a layup as time expired.

Jones scored 16 of her 32 points in the final quarter of play as ORU battled to bring themselves back into the game. The Golden Eagles cut the Denver lead down to 10 with 2:54 remaining as an effective full court press forced the Pioneers into six turnovers. Denver iced the game away with free throws down the stretch as ORU suffered back-to-back losses for the first time this season.
